About Me

Hi there, I'm Jahmya, a aspiring tattoo artist and illustrator from California
I've been making art my entire life, some of my earliest memories are using Crayola paint for the first time and drawing on the back of my closet. Growing up I was constantly making things such as films on my iPad, writing stories, making sculpture with sticks and fabric, and most of all making traditional art with whatever I had. I've always flourished in art classes and even took IB Art, having an Exhibition as shown on this site.

Here are some things that motivate me as an artist:

  • Femininity, what it means to be born a woman across the globe, the shared experiences of it, and how women have fought to overcome women's suffrage in history.

  • Mental illness and how it effects people differently, the demonization of a diagnosis causing many people to remain undiagnosed and unable to reach out for help.

  • The war machine seeming like an unstoppable entity that ruins lives, killing young soldiers by the hundreds, and nuclear war possibly being the end of humanity.

  • Liminal spaces, the way they can feel eerie, lonely, nostalgic, and comforting all at once. Especially 2000s-2010's liminal spaces and the nostalgia that it brings my generation.
